“Stepping Stones”

Being a step parent is extremely underrated. I’ve been a step dad. I have a step mother. My wife is a step mother. It’s all around us, everywhere you look. Blended households are the new “normal” in society, and it is a source of major friction in households and in courts alike. I would like to share with you some of the joys and some of the pain. You know what I’m talking about.

I’m not an expert, but I do have coping strategies and some insight. Let’s cope together. If you are a struggling step parent, I can tell you that there are rewards in step parenting if you know where to look. I can also tell you that under the present family laws in this country, step parents are really at the bottom of pile, which is a travesty as far as I’m concerned. Maybe we can do something about it.

There are three diferent “categories” of step parents. A good place to start is to read my post on this topic: Three Categories of Step Parents.

This blog is pretty young, and I’m sure it will take interesting twists here and there. I’m not going to write every single post about step parenting, although that is the primary theme here. I also like to write about being a parent and watching the little folk grow up.

It’s always good to know what you, the readers, are thinking. You may or may not agree with me. I’m always willing to learn and listen, and others want to learn too!
